i tried putting an entry in, to tell everyone how the ship is quite rocky right now, that anything not anchored or secured for sea has been rolling across the room. like those old funny ship movies, where one minute the man's at the desk, then the next his across the room. it's a lot like that here. and then there's the training that we've been conducting, which has made me feel like i'm back in high school or playing cops and robbers; i.e. the gun quarters today we had "assimulations for hostile ships."
but all in all, things have been pretty good. then i go around the ship to try to use the computer and it's like a lost cause, like trying to smoke while we're doing a general quarters training. but i've been able to get a chit for aerographer's mate and then i'm doing a little training on my own time (never working hours) for that rate.
going to bed now... be back in san dog for a busy weekend again and then leave on wensday. i'm excited.... goodnight...

Have I mentioned how proud I am to know you? I knew you would do great in boot, and I was right! A lot of squids hope for ship duty and don't get it for years, and here you've got it first time up to bat. And doing a hellofa job of it from what I can tell.
And now you are facing your first deployment. And hendling it with lots of grace. Let me tell you, this soldier's boots were just about knocking when the first Gulf war came around, so I know what's going through your mind. And you are steadfast, and will continue to be. You are one of the best and the brightest that our nation has to offer, and we THANK you for choosing to protect and defend the constitution of the United States of America against all enemies - foreign and domestic.
