  • Some things that I think about during Christmas time: the old tradition of these holidays and the true purpose… To me the true purpose of celebrating Christmas and holidays is not just religious reasons, but also celebrating life and being thankful that you have family members and/or friends that’ll give you gifts and/or celebrate the holidays with.

For people like kotas, the following might be too hard to swallow…
The old traditions, where did they come from, why’d they get started?
When a priest lights a white candle his intentions are to purify the room. Same thing for ‘witches’ or Celtics. Black doesn’t mean just evil as some of my Christian friends think: it’s to banish evil, just like the color white.

    (Following from Gerina Dunwich’s books):
“Eostre: Saxon and Neo-Pagan goddess of fertility and springtime, whom the holiday of Easter is named after.”

Past and current events during: “December 24th: Christmas Eve. According to folklore, the ghosts of departed loved ones return home each year on this night. It is a Christmas Eve tradition in Finland and in many other parts of Europe for families to light white candles on the graves of their ancestors.
According to superstition, if a man proposes to his beloved on Christmas Eve and she accepts, they will surely enjoy a happy and love-filled marriage.

December 25th: Birthday of the Invisible Sun (Dies Natalis Invicti Solis). Before being Christianized as the Mass of Christ (Christmas), a festival honoring the god of the sun was celebrated on this day in ancient Rome. It was made a public holiday by the Emperor Aurelian in the year A.D. 272 and consisted of the lighting of sacred bonfires.
On Christmas Day, according to German folklore, a Yuletide Witch known as the Lutzelfrau flies through the sky on her broom, bringing mischief to mortals who fail to honor her with small presents. Another Yuletide Witch of German folklore is Perchta. In the southern regions of the country, it was an old Yuletide custom for children wearing masks and carrying besoms (Witch brooms) to go door to door (in “trick or treat” fashion) begging for gifts in the name of Perchta.”

We’re still painting the walls. Mom’s been painting the entryway and hallway (where it was supposed to be just white) a lighter tan color. And as soon as dad gets home, he’ll be painting the ceilings – the hallway and my room. It sucks that he’s going to be painting my room.

I’m studying right now for tomorrow’s final. Judy (the oceanography instructor) gave us most of the answers, so now all I have to do is memorize two or so pages of these question-answers. argggg….. sucks.

On a lighter note, my Aunt Sue (who lives in Hawaii) is visiting us for dinner. So mum and aunt are going out to eat right now, while I stay home and study. Damn school. LOL

    Trish

  • Finally, omeone telling it like it is.  I want to go to a Pagan orgy damnit! lol.  But seriously, Christmas being a Christian thing is total bs.  It's more of an ecomnomic holiday now anyways.

About the UN Inspection Teams, yeah, I know they're searching for a bit longer than that.  I was exaggerating a bit,  but my point is that they're not searching throughly enough like they could be doing.  Oh well, hire some professional hit squad in there to take out Saddam and his goons, that'll help.

    Well, later

  • Good luck on the test!

  • christmas is all about santa and christmas lights and glitter, and the rat pack christmas CD and turkey..at least in my book.
